Knitwear Care + Storage
Learn proper care techniques to keep your artisan pieces beautiful and wearable for years to come.
Wash instructions:
- Fill sink or clean tub with cold water.
- Add a small amount of unscented wool soap ( I recommend Dirty Labs Delicates Wash, link: https://a.co/d/05GOnT02)
- Add hats, gently squeeze and agitate, letting the fibers soak up the water and soap disperse. For 1 minute, continue gently squeezing the hat in the water.
- Optional- leave the hat to soak for 10 minutes (this is good if you're trying to get rid of a smell). You could even add a lemon peel or drop or two of lemon essential oil to the water if the hat has been exposed to smoke or bad smells.
- Drain water, gently rinse the hat and fill basin one more time to keep squeezing out the old water.
- Drain again, continue gently squeezing water out from one end to the other without wringing or stretching the hat.
- Once water is squeezed out, lay the hat flat on a towel or clean surface, with the fibers pulled up and down (making it look a bit long). This will help it get back to shape and restore it from being stretched out width-wise.
- Let air dry for a day or two (it helps to place it somewhere warm and airy, but not hot or in direct sun.
- Optional- I lay my knits dry on an absorbent stone mat (link: https://a.co/d/0ioRdlzp)
